During WW2 Glace Bay was an active port for convey ships etc. Johnny Wilmot remembered meeting and hearing William Livingstone, a miltary piper who was stationed there for a brief period. Bill became an influential teacherof pipe music in Ontario. His son Bill Livingstone was the first Canadian born piper to win the gold medal at Oban.
