From the notes of Brian McNamara's wonderful new CD, A Piper's Dream:

" This tune was composed by James Ennis (1885-1965) father to the legendary piper Séamus Ennis. According to Séamus it was inspired by the sound of a thrush which sang each morning outside his father's window. It won first prize in the Dublin Feis Ceoil competition for newly composed tunes."

This arrangement has also been published in The Silver Apple News
